At the end of February 2009 a clash between the Reer Xareed and Maxamuud Nuur clans took place in Burdi near the town of Baki, Awdal, over a land dispute. The conflict caused death, displacement of people and looting of property. This conflict opened a wound between clans and sub-clans Reer Xareed (who belong to Jibri Abokor of the Cumar Jibriil lineage) and Reer Maxamuud Nuur (who belong to the Reer Nuur lineage of Nuur Yoonis).
